2011 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet

The 2011 Puligny villages is excellent, with a nice sense of reserve that will ask for a year or two worth of bottle age prior to really coming into its own. The excellent nose wafts from the glass in a mix of apple, peach, lemon zest, terres blanches and apple blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and racy, with a fine core, lovely acids for the vintage and very good length and grip on the well-balanced and still youthful finish.

Sauzet's 2011 Puligny-Montrachet is rich and expressive, yet also weightless. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and white-fleshed fruit all meld together in a deep, resonant wine. The 2011 is particularly beautiful for its textured finish. (AG)
