Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Louis Jadot (Domaine des Heritiers) Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Demoiselles" (98RP, 94BH). Wine Advocate: "This wine takes about 5 minutes in the glass to begin opening, but wow, what a nose once it gets going! Mainly savoury aromas of toasted nut, marmite, and white truffles over lemon tart, butterscotch, creme brulee and chalk boards. A high level of refreshing acidity cuts through the silken, concentrated palate. Very long finish of pineapple pastry, dried mango, preserved ginger and minerals. (LPB)" (05/2010)

A markedly ripe but not really exotic nose combines secondary fruit and floral scents with hints of spice, wood and sous-bois. There is first-rate complexity to the rich, concentrated and mouth coating flavors that brim with a fine minerality before terminating in a gorgeously complex, balanced and lingering finish that is class in a glass. Like many '89 whites today this is not only fully mature but should probably be drunk up over the next 5ish years as I sense that a decline is not far away. Note that I have tasted this many times over the years (the last recent bottle was in 2005) and had good if not perfectly consistency with my scores bouncing between 92 and 94.
