Saturated medium ruby. Fascinating, vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, blackberry and tea leaves. Juicy and densely packed; currently a bit dominated by a flavor of caramel oak and thus not especially fleshy. Black fruit and floral flavors emerge as the wine opens in the glass. A powerfully structured wine, finishing with substantial, dusty, oak-enhanced tannins. (ST)

From Pisoni Vineyard in Monterey County's Santa Lucia Highlands, Le Moulin Rouge occupies a distinct place in Peter Michael's lineup. Its vineyard source lies well south of the winery's Sonoma County estate vineyards.
