01/2002Subtle and fine, gorgeous red and black fruits, heavily laced with intense berry notes and sappy, rich, sweet, very pinot flavors. This is stylish, and very long and may ultimately show better than my rating. Very classy juice and perhaps just a touch finer than the Ruchots and with finer tannins. It will be interesting to see which one is better over time. 90+

03/2002Dark red. Full-blown aromas of game, roasted coffee, cola, chocolate and underbrush. Silky, sweet and thick, with layered, rich dark fruit flavors and a lovely pliant texture. Finishes fat, long and ripely tannic. A very forward and attractive Combottes. (ST)
