Bid on this bottle of 1990 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (94JG, 91BH). John Gilman: "The ’90 Jadot Bonnes-Mares is one of the best examples of the vintage that I have tasted in the last several years, as the wine has retained much of the freshness and purity that made this vintage so exciting in its youth. The bouquet is deep and strikingly vibrant, as it offers up notes of candied black cherries, plums, chocolate, a touch of venison, forest floor, woodsmoke and herb tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and complex, with excellent focus and balance, modest and well-integrated tannins, and excellent length and grip on the complex finish. This is ready to drink in half bottle (though it could probably use a few more years in regular-sized format), and is a very, very impressive 1990. There is not a bit of the roasty pruniness that defines the vast majority of wines from this vintage these days." (09/2015)

Still completely ruby to the rim with very expressive, very ripe and spicy mix of primary and secondary fruit aromas though the big, intense, rich, robust flavors are slightly roasted. This is quite supple for a '90 Bonnes Mares and the finish is long, complex and velvety and while this is not yet completely ready, it can be enjoyed now with fear of committing infanticide. That said, there is still plenty of underlying structure and this should continue to age well for another decade, perhaps longer. Multiple and consistent notes, several of them recent.
