Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1993 Domaine Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru (92BH). Burghound: "The ripe, spicy and still fresh nose is now almost fully secondary and this development extends to the velvety, rich, nicely intense and concentrated flavors that deliver fine length and excellent finishing complexity. This is a seductive if not necessarily refined effort that coats the palate in dry extract. In sum this is a beautiful if not truly sensational wine that is just now arriving at its apogee where it should hold for years to come. Inconsistent notes as I have had a few bottles with drying tannins but the best examples have been truly lovely." (01/2014)

01/2014Notes
The pride and joy of Domaine Lamarche, this monopole (promoted to Grand Cru in 1992) lies between the famous and justifiably great vineyards of La Tâche and La Romanée-Conti. Lamarche was one of those underachieving estates for much of its existence, producing nice but simple wines when it could have made masterpieces. That changed in the early nineties, BEFORE the '93 vintage, making this a great value in Grand Cru Burgundy if you can get your hands on it.
