Domaine Heresztyn was established in Gevrey-Chambertin in the 1930s and remained a small family estate focused on Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. The domaine’s holdings have long been centered around Gevrey-Chambertin, including several premier cru vineyards, and today encompass parcels in neighboring Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. Organic and biodynamic farming now guide the estate, but even in the late 1980s the domaine was known for traditional viticulture and low-intervention winemaking. Les Champonnets is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most respected premier crus, situated on the northern side of the village near the grand cru slope. The vineyard is known for its clay-rich soils mixed with gravel, a combination that produces structured, age-worthy Pinot Noir with both power and finesse. Heresztyn’s parcel was planted in part during the early 1970s and has historically yielded a small production.
