2001 Spring Mountain Vineyard "Elivette" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (6L)

Dark and rich, with a smooth, supple texture that seamlessly delivers flavors of cassis, vanilla and plum pudding. Tannins are plentiful but remarkably ripe and caressing on the finish. (JC)

The 2001 Elivette, which is again a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend, is better than I remember it after bottling. Foresty black currant notes intermixed with some fresh sauteed porcini mushrooms, damp earth and a floral note are all noticeable in the impressive perfume. Medium-bodied, slightly more compact than the Cabernet Sauvignon, but displaying nice, sweet tannin and very good fruit, this wine should drink well for another 10-12 years. (RP)
