Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94DC). Decanter: "The colour difference between the 1998 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet and the 1998 Alexander Valley Cabernet is striking. The Napa is much darker, though still opaque, with some brick-toned evolution. Despite its age, it retains remarkable power and intensity. Tasted side by side at Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley winery in September 2024, the Napa Valley Cabernet dazzles with blackcurrant fruit, dried banana, tobacco, and incense. Medium to full-bodied, it boasts incredibly firm, muscular tannins and a refreshing minty lift, balanced by crushed cocoa nibs and a long, chalky mineral finish. Silver Oak was founded to focus on Cabernet Sauvignon in 1972 by entrepreneur Raymond Twomey Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer, and makes two key wines based on their respective AVAs. Recent winery tasting notes for this vintage: "The 1998 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark ruby color. It has a nose of blackberry, rose petals and cumin. This wine is elegant on the palate and has an extremely long finish. Composition: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot."
