2022 Schrader "WH - Wappo Hill Vineyard" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

Sourced from the DN2 block at the base of the Hartwell Estate, this wine is terrifically lush with a dark-fruited profile and compelling layers of complexity. Notes of capsicum, fennel, and thyme mingle with tobacco and graphite, adding intrigue to the nose. Full-bodied, it boasts a rich core of loamy earth complemented by a host of ripe blueberry fruit, bay leaf, and firm, fine-grained tannins. The structure is beautifully framed by aspine of crisp, crunchy acidity, delivering balance and vibrancy—a wine with depth and poise. (JC)

All Clone 685 from a Mondavi property in the Stags Leap District, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon WH Wappo Hill Vineyard is the third vintage of this wine. It's super dark in the glass and features slightly monolithic black cherries on the nose but is full-bodied, rich, expansive and sexy on the palate, with a long finish that adds attractive hints of licorice.
