Bid on this bottle of 2009 Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (93DC, 90WE). Decanter: "I sampled the 2009 Groth Cabernet during a vertical tasting of Groth wines (1982–2022) in early 2024 with proprietor Dennis Groth. At this point in the tasting, it’s hard to imagine that this 15-year-old wine—and the vintages that follow through to 2022—are more than a few years old, given their excellent colour depth and remarkable tension. The 2009 vintage offers a touch of minty freshness woven around dark black fruits, dusted with sage powder and laced with ironstone minerality. Full-flavoured and redolent of dark cocoa, it features burly tannins that build on the long, balanced finish. The winemaker in 2009 was Michael Weis. (JC)" (04/2024)

This is a lovely Cabernet to drink now and over the next few years. It shows its Oakville pedigree with smooth tannins and dry, complex flavors of blackberry, black currant and cherry, with a fine earthiness.
