Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Gary Farrell Sonoma County/Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. This fantastic Pinot Noir had to be good, sourced as it was from Rochioli, Allen, Starr Ridge Estate and Stiling vineyards in the Russian River Valley appellation, and from the already legendary 2001 vintage. This offering shows classic "restraint" by allowing the fruit to capture center-stage rather than heavy-handed winemaking. Wonderful aromas of raspberry and violets lead to equally compelling strawberry and dark berry flavors, which are enhanced (but never over-powered) by a perfect complement of enriching, slightly toasty oak. The succulent fruit components and wonderful balancing acidity ensure excellent compatibility with a wide range of foods, including spicy fish, lamb or veal dishes.

Provenance: Original owner. Purchased directly from the winery or retailer on release and stored in the temperature controlled cellar of a Bay Area collector. Picked-up directly from the cellar by K&L.
