Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Arietta Napa Valley Claret. Robert Parker in the Wine Advocate: "This partnership between winemaker John Kongsgaard and auctioneer Fritz Hatton has produced distinctive, singular wines, with the H Block a California version of Bordeaux’s famed Cheval Blanc, and the Variation One a “who knows what the heck” blend of Merlot and Syrah. ... All of the current portfolio offerings are top-notch, although the 2004s are not up to the quality level of the last three vintages." Winery tasting notes: "The first Arietta Claret, the 2004 is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 14% Petit Verdot from vineyards farmed by David Abreu at the top of Howell Mountain. The relatively high percentage of Petit Verdot gives the wine great depth and staying power. Best held until 2008 and beyond."
