Bid on this bottle of 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello - Steep Terraces" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97VN). Vinous: "The 2013 Monte Bello Steep Terraces is just as magnificent from bottle as it was from barrel. Unctuous and deep on the palate, the Steep Terraces boasts magnificent intensity. Even with all of its richness, the Steep Terraces possesses considerable freshness, which gives the flavors a distinctly red-fruit leaning profile. Raspberry jam, wild flowers, mint and pomegranate are fused into a long, sweet finish. The Steep Terraces parcel, a core Monte Bello component, was first planted in 1972. (AG)" (07/2016)

07/2016Notes
Ridge’s history at Monte Bello began in 1959, when its founding partners acquired the historic Torre Ranch high in the Santa Cruz Mountains and revived vineyards first planted there in the early 20th century. Steep Terraces comes from two historic Cabernet Sauvignon parcels at roughly 2,300 feet, where limestone subsoils, high elevation, and exposed mountain conditions produce intense fruit, firm acidity, and pronounced mineral character. Bottled separately in 2013 because of the parcel’s exceptional quality, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon came from 42-year-old vines and just nine barrels of wine.
