Wine Advocate: "The 1972 Chappellet Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is pale brick in color and struts a compelling Indian spice and smoked meats nose with hints of rose hip tea, tobacco leaf and powdered cinnamon with a touch of bay leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm structure of chewy tannins and lively acid supporting the exotic spice and savory layers, finishing on a lingering mineral note. (LPB)" (05/2018)

Perched 1,200 feet above the floor of the Napa Valley, the Chappellet family's winery definitely makes use of these very unique, mountain vineyards. The foundation of Chappellet winemaking program is focused on creating extraordinary age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon, like this one, now fully mature from 1972. A great choice for a birthday or anniversary bottle from a vintage that wasn't always successful for longevity at other estates.
