02/2019Also from the plain but from smaller yields, the 2016 Château Laforge checks in as 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. This wine is a selection of the best terroirs around the estate and sees 80% new French oak. Cassis, blackberries, some violets, and earthy notes all emerge from this beauty, which has awesome tannin quality, a layered, ripe, sexy texture, no hard edges, and a great finish.

03/2019The 2016 Laforge is blended of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, aged in 80% new French oak. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with bold plum preserves, baked cherries and mulberries with hints of tar, chargrill and black olives plus a waft of bouquet garni. In the medium to full-bodied mouth, this is a total plum fest, with layers of earthy/meaty nuances and a firm, grainy frame, finishing on a savory note. (LPB)
