Buena Vista Winery was founded in 1857 by Agoston Haraszthy in Sonoma, making it one of California's oldest continuously operating wineries. Haraszthy, a Hungarian immigrant who became known as the father of California viticulture, constructed the state's first gravity-flow winery and excavated Sonoma's first wine caves, while introducing hundreds of European grape varieties to the region. The Haraszthy Cellars name on this bottling is a direct reference to the winery's founder and its founding legacy.
