Produced from old-vine fruit from Monts Luisants giving tiny yields. Produced with about one-third whole clusters and one-third new casks for ageing, the wine opens with a complex nose showing black cherry fruit and a savoury, almost gamey edge. The initial impression on the palate is silky and accessible, but the tannin here is immense, although very fine-grained. There is impressive freshness and a finish that goes on and on. Lovely. A superb Clos de la Roche. (CC)
