Bid on this bottle of 2007 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cru Beaujolais (89WE). The appellation name in French means "on the flanks of Mount Brouilly" and the wines with this name only come from vines grown on the steep slopes of the hill. The ground on Mount Brouilly is made up of an extremely hard blue volcanic rock unique in Europe. This is the Thivin emblem: the complex aromas are iris and peony, the robe is deep red with purple-blue tints and the mouth is long and full with spicy tannins. 89 points Wine Enthusiast: "Structured, with firm tannins, a far remove from the image of Brouilly as the softest of the Beaujolais crus. There is spice, fresh juiciness with berry flavors rolling around the wine. But the structure comes through strongly, the finish with fresh acidity." (11/09)
