1995 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is performing far better after a year of bottle age. This dark ruby/purple-colored, seductive wine offers blazingly intense aromas of cigar box, smoky oak, and jammy black currants with a hint of Provencal herbs. (RP)

It is an exquisite, medium-bodied wine that is ageing like a Pommard Burgundy, with its firm-textured tannins and powerful aromas of dark currant fruits, tobacco, loamy earth, truffle, saddle leather, and dried violets The tannins are integrated as of my tasting when I sampled this wine next to the 1995 Napa in September 2024. I would be thrilled to have a few bottles of this in my cellar and drink them now and over the next few years. (JC)
