One Napa's great serendipitous partnerships is that between vineyard owner Charlie Crocker and veteran Napa winemaker Pam Starr, who made her name as winemaker for Spottswoode. Crocker & Starr is the result of a meeting between Pam and Charlie one day to discuss fruit purchases from Crocker's ranch. Instead, the two convinced each other that they could make extraordinary wines under their own label, from their own estate fruit. The "Estate Old Vines Single Barrel Lot" is made from a small block of 47-year-old vines just east of the winery. It displays all the depth and character that inspired Pam to focus her efforts entirely on this one remarkable estate.
