2007 Arietta "Variation One" Napa Valley Red Blend

A blend of 55% Syrah and 45% Merlot, the 2007 Variation One reveals smoky bacon notes intermixed with notions of boysenberries, wildflowers, forest floor, pepper, and wood spice. (RP)

The natural intensity of the 2007 vintage comes through in Arietta's Red Wine Variation One. Deep, rich and full-bodied, the 2007 is mature, or close to it, and yet its balance is quite appealing. Worn-in leather, tobacco, espresso, scorched earth, menthol and dark spices all flesh out in the glass. Although the 2007 lacks some freshness, it has enough depth to hang on for at least a few more years. (AG)
