2023 Domaine du Couvent (Philippe Cheron) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes"

New in 2021 and now they own the land (2024). From the upper part on crinoidal limestone. Can be high pH and volatile here, so the grapes are destemmed. A bright and quite deep purple, with greater density of raspberry, a solid weight of fruit across the palate, with firmer tannins behind. The Feusselottes needs more elevage, which it will receive. Interesting, a wine worth investigating further.

This is also aromatically very pretty with a similar nose of the essence of red cherry and more obvious spice and floral elements. There is a lovely sense of tension suffusing the medium-bodied flavors that offer solid length on the firmly austere finale that might be too austere for some palates. As such, if you're going to try a bottle young, allow it plenty of air first.
