2015 Domaine de Gouye St. Joseph Vieilles Vignes (1.5L)

An estate I’m not familiar with, Domaine de Gouye is run by Philippe Desbos and is located just to the north of Tournon in the commune of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. The 2015 Saint Joseph Vieilles Vignes (I believe this is the only cuvee of the domaine) comes from steep, south facing, granite soils and vines averaging 50 years in age. It’s a classically made Saint Joseph that’s not destemmed, foot crushed, and aged in older, neutral French oak barrels for 16 months, bottled unfined and unfiltered. It’s an incredible wine that offers loads of blackberry and currants fruits, spice, white pepper, liquid violet-like aromas and flavors. Deep, rich, medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with moderate acidity and ample tannin, it’s another wine that shows how good 2015 was for the Northern Rhône. This is worth a case purchase and will drink beautifully for 10-15 years.
