Bid on this bottle of Labrot & Graham Kentucky Whiskey. Before Woodford Reserve existed, there was Labrot & Graham, a name American whiskey lovers will remember from older Woodford bottlings. Established in 1812, the Old Pepper Distillery was established in Woodford County. In the 1820s, Scottish distiller and chemist Dr. James Crow revolutionized American whiskey by introducing the sour mash process, which he experimented with on the site. Leopold Labrot and James Graham purchased and rebranded the distillery in 1878, producing "Old Oscar Pepper" from the late 1800s into the early 20th century. When the distillery was acquired by Brown-Forman in the 1940s, the "L&G" brand was used incredibly sparingly. Indeed, this bottling was likely produced during bourbon's decline, and is an exceedingly rare example of this unique time.
