2012 Hessische Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach Rauenthaler Baiken Riesling Spätlese "Crescentia"

Hessische Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach traces its winemaking history to 1136, when Cistercian monks founded Eberbach Abbey in the Rheingau, passing through the Dukes of Nassau and the Kingdom of Prussia before becoming property of the Federal State of Hesse in 1945 and today comprising approximately 200 hectares across the Rheingau and Hessische Bergstrasse. Spätlese is produced from fully ripe, late-harvested bunches, with the Rauenthaler Baiken one of the estate's most celebrated Grosse Lagen on steep south-facing slopes above the village of Rauenthal. The Crescentia designation references Abbess Crescentia, a historic figure associated with Eberbach Abbey.
