96-100 points Robert Parker for Wine Advocate: "Back to pushing perfection is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard from Oakville. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new Taransaud oak, this is a wine of enormous richness, stature and length. It is full-bodied, pure, heady and compelling. Russell Bevan continues to build on the greatness he achieved with his 2012s and 2013s with some of the finest 2014s in all of Northern California. Moreover, 2015 looks to be another great vintage." (10/2016) Tench Vineyard is one of Oakville’s closely watched eastern-bench sites, with Russell Bevan drawing from the vineyard for a limited Cabernet bottling separate from his other Napa Valley cuvees. The 2015 was made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon and raised in new Taransaud barrels, placing it squarely in Bevan’s most concentrated, small-production style.

From a tiny block in a vineyard in Oakville, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is a head turner that ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage. With a deep purple/blue color and killer notes of blueberries, black cherries, chocolate, spice and building minerality, this beauty is full-bodied, concentrated, and pure, with a focused, clean finish that carries ripe tannin and good acidity. Vinous

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is the deepest and most flamboyant of Russell Bevan's Oakville wines. Black cherry, plum, new leather, licorice, smoke and spice infuse this rich, boisterous Cabernet. Exotic, racy and wonderfully forward, the 2015 exudes character and personality in a decidedly voluptuous style. (AG) (01/2018)

From a steep hillside in Oakville, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard offers a more savory, masculine, layered style as well as a huge nose of red and black fruits, dried herbs, chocolate, and earth. It hits the palate with a full-bodied, mouthfilling style that carries plenty of tannins, a deep, concentrated mid-palate, and a great finish. I like it today, yet it’s going to continue drinking brilliantly for two decades. (01/2019)

Wine Advocate

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is very deep purple-black in color with an earthy, meaty, broody nose with notes of mocha over baked plums and crème de cassis plus wafts of spice box and mincemeat. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated, rich and earthy with great vibrancy on the finish. (LPB) 97+ (10/2018)

Vinous

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is racy and layered in the glass, with all of the textural creaminess that makes wines from this part of Oakville so alluring. Plush fruit, silky tannins and soaring aromatics make for a truly compelling Cabernet Sauvignon. Mocha, dried herbs, tobacco, menthol, licorice and cedar meld into the sumptuous finish. Time in the glass brings out terrific freshness in the dark red and purplish berry fruit. The 2016 is every bit as memorable from bottle as it was from barrel. (AG) (12/2018)
