Ridge’s history at Monte Bello began in 1959, when its founding partners acquired the historic Torre Ranch high in the Santa Cruz Mountains and revived vineyards first planted there in the early 20th century. Steep Terraces comes from two historic Cabernet Sauvignon parcels at roughly 2,300 feet, where limestone subsoils, high elevation, and exposed mountain conditions produce intense fruit, firm acidity, and pronounced mineral character. Bottled separately in 2013 because of the parcel’s exceptional quality, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon came from 42-year-old vines and just nine barrels of wine.
