2006 C. Donatiello "Floodgate Vineyard Old Vines" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

“Here the wood is just a touch more evident as the expressive and layered nose carries elegant notes of spice, cassis and black raspberry that merge into delicious, round, intense and sappy flavors that possess better cut and delineation on the mouth coating, dusty and moderately structured finish. On the plus side, while the wood is not invisible, it shapes the mouth feel less overtly than the prior two wines. On the negative side, there is distinct warmth but overall, this is certainly an attractive effort because of its depth and overall sophistication. 4th Quarter 2008 (AM)” (08/2026)
