Wine Advocate
“The highlight in this range of 2010s it the Etna Rosso Prephylloxera La Vigna di Don Peppino, easily the most refined of these offerings from Terre Nere. A gorgeous, vibrant core of fruit caresses the palate in this expressive and totally delicious wine. The 2010 isn't as big or rich as some previous versions, instead it is a wine that impresses for its considerable length and pure finesse on the palate. Tobacco and spice notes add complexity to the finish in a Nerello Mascalese that bears more than a passing resemblance to the Volnays of the Cote de Beaune. D'Angerville comes to mind.” (02/2013)

Wine Spectator
“Supple, yet rich and dense, with perfumed crushed cherry and wild strawberry notes finely detailed with silky tannins, spice and underbrush accents. This is long, with a minerally aftertaste. Drink now through 2022. 250 cases made.” (08/2013)

“These vineyards, planted in the 1870s on the north side of Mount Etna, rise to 2,100 feet. The ancient vines yield a wine with the concentration of cured sausages, its meaty intensity a battle between earthy tannins and volatile acidity. This is rustic and burly, without a nod to modernism. Cellar it for a trip back in time to the Old World.” (06/2013)

Jancis Robinson
“Transparent ruby. Dense and tingly. Really rich and thick and dry – like a Priorat spun out into a filigree with all that minerality. Dry finish. So mineral! Lively. 18/20 points (JR)” (10/2012)
