2012 Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

“The 2012 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon is dark-fruited and lifted, with brown baking spices, graphite, and crème de cassis. The palate is full-bodied, with a deep dark fruit profile resonating with intensity. The very fine-grained, cedar-kissed tannins provide a firm base for the dark berry fruit, which finishes with intense caramel and toffee spice notes—sampled during a vertical tasting of Groth wines (1982–2022) in early 2024 with proprietor Dennis Groth. “The Cabernet is a blend of 88% Cabernet with 12% Merlot. This was aged 22 months in French oak barrels (65% new) prior to bottling.There are aromas of cedar, blackberry and mocha.
