From the Ginestra cru in Monforte d'Alba, Sorì Ginestra is one of Conterno Fantino's flagship Barolos and a benchmark for the estate's more modern cellar approach. Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino founded the winery in 1982, and this 1997 magnum comes from a notably warm Piedmont vintage.

“The 1997 Barolo Sori Ginestra exhibits a deep ruby/purple color in addition to complex aromas of tobacco smoke and gloriously sweet, jammy cherry liqueur. Ripe, opulent, and full-bodied, with huge amounts of glycerin and extract, yet high tannin in the finish, this 1997 needs 4-5 years of cellaring. This is a super-impressive Barolo.” (06/2001)
