1997 Beringer "125/25 Anniversary - Estate" St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Beringer "125/25 Anniversary - Estate" St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (91VN). Vinous: "Bright medium ruby. Almost inky but not brutal on the nose, showing subtle violet lift to the aromas of black fruits and woodsmoke. Quite silky and fruity on entry, then the wine's juicy, slightly dominant acidity gives the middle palate a touch of sourness that's accentuated on the back by firm, dusty, tongue-saturating tannins. But this dark, very fresh wine seems still to be evolving and finishes firm and long. (ST) 91+" (09/2017)

An elegant, polished style, with ripe plum, blackberry, black licorice and cedary oak flavors. Firms up and turns tannic on the finish. (JL) (12/2001)
