2017 Epoch "Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Tempranillo

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2017 Epoch "Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Tempranillo (94JD, 94RP, 94VN). Vinous: "Deep, brilliant violet. Expansive, smoke-accented aromas of cassis, cherry, mocha and licorice; a suave floral nuance builds in the glass. Appealingly sweet and expressive on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black/blue fruit, vanilla and candied lavender flavors and a touch of star anise. Jeb Dunnuck

Blackberries, savory herbs, dried earth, and lots of spiced meat notes emerge from the 2017 Tempranillo. This full-bodied red has a great texture, some classic Tempranillo tannins, and a terrific finish. It’s going to evolve for a solid decade. 94+ (09/2020)

Wine Advocate

The 2017 Tempranillo comes from the Paderewski vineyard and was aged 19 months in 67% new French oak barrels and puncheons. It has an opaque ruby-purple color and a nose of sour cherries and Italian plums with underlying nuances of tar, coffee, leather and soy sauce. The palate is super spicy, bright and fresh, with a firm structuring frame and long, layered finish. It's an elegant New World expression of the grape. (EB) (10/2020)
