Turley Wine Cellars makes 34 wines, the vast majority of which are single-vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old-vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of the vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and they use all-natural yeasts in the fermentations. From the winery: "Cedarman is an inky blend of predominately Zinfandel and small amounts of Petite Syrah from Howell Mountain. The Zinfandel comes from Dragon vineyard, planted at one of the highest points on Howell Mountain to rocky, red volcanic soils. The Petite Syrah comes from Rattlesnake Ridge on the northeastern edge of Napa, just above St. Helena upon Howell Mountain. After harvested the grapes are pressed and the wine is fermented with all-natural yeasts. The wines are then aged for 15 months in 80% used oak barrels, of which 80% is French and 20% is American. Aromatically the wine is bright with white pepper and ripe, brambly fruits. On the palate, the wine is densely full bodies, with spice and dark plums, graphite, roasted red meats, and dusty earth. In classic Howell Mountain style, the tannins are bold and the wine has a finish that lasts and lasts."

“The 2018 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard is a pretty wine, but it is also one of the more unsettled wines in this range. I have no doubt it will come together, but today, it is a bit awkward.
