Louis Latour’s Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru ranks among Burgundy’s most authoritative white wines, drawn from the high limestone spine of the Montagne de Corton above Aloxe Corton. The Latour family has held parcels here since the late eighteenth century, shaping a house style that balances ripeness with exacting minerality. Fermentation and aging proceed in new French oak from the domaine’s own cooperage, followed by extended lees contact to build structure without excess weight. The cuvée blends fruit from multiple lieux dits, notably En Charlemagne and Le Charlemagne, for breadth and precision. Oak handling has grown more measured in recent decades, bringing greater clarity to the wine’s natural power.
