Working tiny holdings of old-vine Chardonnay across premier and grand cru parcels, he favors late harvesting, minimal bâtonnage, and an almost obsessive focus on reductive élevage. The results can be dramatic, even volatile in youth, yet patient cellaring reveals wines of tensile minerality, smoky reduction, and remarkable site transparency. Colin-Morey’s style has evolved toward greater precision and balance, dialing back some of the extreme reduction of his early vintages while maintaining intensity and age-worthiness. Production remains painfully small, and allocations vanish instantly, yet the best bottles rival the Côte de Beaune’s elite. These are cerebral, structured whites that reward both patience and attention.
