“Always a solid wine from Anderson Valley, this NV is built of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and offers pretty lemony and lemon oil notes atop a bed of fragrant white flowers. Very round and complete with an assertive mousse, just-baked bread, and bruised yellow apple fruit. This bubbly has excellent depth and a terrific mineral finish. Aged a minimum of two years on the yeast, clocking in at 10 g/L. 85,000 9-litre cases produced. (JC)” (03/2023)

“Aromas of pie crust with hints of nuts and cooked apple. Some butter cookie. Medium to full body with notes of seashell, cooked apple and lemon rind. Chunky at the end. A base of 2019. A blend of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir. Two years on the lees. 7.5g/L dosage. Drink or hold.” (01/2024)

“The new release of Roederer Estate non-vintage Brut is composed from a blend of sixty percent chardonnay and forty percent pinot noir, with ten to fifteen percent of the vins clairs barrel-fermented. The wine spent a minimum of two years aging sur lattes and offers up a fine nose of lemon, apple, bread dough, a touch of almond, dried flowers and a lovely base of soil. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a good core, frothy mousse, lovely balance and a long, classy finish. This is really quite lovely for the entry level bottling from the estate and a fine value.” (09/2023)

“Pale lemon in colour. Yeasty and saline nose with notes of ripe golden apple and lemon oil. Fresh acidity on the palate with well-integrated dairy, toast and cedar notes. Long autolytic biscuity finish that continues to develop. Absolutely delicious. It really needs some time in the glass to warm up and open to show its best. Consistently *Very Good Value* (SCJ)” (01/2024)

Very serious sparkling wine from NZ. Nautilus Estate is one of a few producers that long ago recognized NZ's potential for producing world-class bubbles and have set about proving it! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L NZ WineBuyer) Winemaker's Notes: "The Nautilus Cuvee Marlborough Brut NV is pale straw in colour with a fine bead and creamy mousse. The wine has a distinctive nutty bouquet, which shows the richness of a Pinot Noir dominant blend and the benefits of extended maturation. An elegant finely structured wine in which the fruit flavours harmonise with biscuity, yeast derived complexities and crisp acidity to give a lingering dry finish. Three vineyard sites are managed to produce fruit for Nautilus Cuvee, giving us a range of flavour influences. All grapes are hand picked and whole bunch pressed with only the finest free run juice reserved. The individual base wines are fermented with a selected champagne yeast and left of lees until undergoing a full malolactic fermentation in the traditional Champenoise style. Blending typically occurs in September, and at this stage a portion of reserve wine is introduced to add complexity and character to the Cuvee in a traditional non vintage style. Typically between 5% and 15%, the reserve wine, consisting of base wine held back from previous vintages, is used. The blend is then bottled and undergoes a secondary fermentation before being aged for a minimum of 36 months prior to disgorging and release."

“This wine is an enduring favourite. It achieves a perfect blend of of zesty citrus freshness with delicate nutty/toasty complexity from yeast autolysis and bottle development. The wine has lovely purity and balance. Everything I expect from a top Methode ... and more. It has an ethereal texture and an aromatic or perfumed character that I associate with champagne.” (09/2016)

This is a beautifully poised and refined method traditionnelle with refined Pinot Noir fruit and bready autolysis. Serve as an aperitif and with canapés or seafood over the next 3+ years. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from three sites, the fruit hand-picked, WBP and fermented to 12.0% alc. and 7.0 g/L dosage, the base wine undergoing MLF, having 5-15% reserve wine added and aged on lees a minimum of 36 months.” (09/2016)

“Seamless. Just one word can be used to describe this outstanding sparkling wine. And it is one of the most consistent New Zealand wines, of any style. A cracking good methode traditionnelle, the wine was disgorged after three years (that's longer than most Champagnes). The bouquet is beautifully fragrant showing citrus and yeasty characters with hints of white peach and floral. It's exquisitely textured on the palate with bright acidity providing a lovely crisp finish that seems to linger on forever. Lovely drink as always. Immensely appealing and highly satisfying.” (09/2016)
