“The 2009 Providence has a complex and refined bouquet with brambly red fruit, mulberry, black truffle and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well judged acidity, very harmonious and poised with an elegant, tobacco and white pepper tinged finish that becomes ferrous with aeration. This feels full mature but it should continue to drink well for a number of years. What a great showing from the Pomerol cru that is now part of La Fleur-Pétrus. “A very strong effort from this estate in the Jean-Pierre Moueix stable, this 2012 (14.5% natural alcohol) has a dense ruby/purple color, a big, sweet kiss of mocha, blackcurrants, and black cherries, and notes of truffle and earth. Full-bodied, ripe and one of the great successes from this estate over recent decades, the 2012 is a must-purchase for Pomerol enthusiasts. “The 2012 Latour a Pomerol is intensely aromatic and beautifully layered in the glass. Sweet herbs, tobacco, raspberry jam, mint and roasted coffee beans are all laced together. Sensual and inviting, the 2012 is all about subtlety and nuance. Super-ripe black cherries, iron, smoke and tobacco add further complexity. “A smoking good release from oenologist Michel and Dany Rolland is the 2015 Le Bon Pasteur, which is up there with the 2009 and 2010 in terms of quality. Revealing a medium ruby/purple color and a terrific bouquet of red and black fruits, flowers, spicy oak, and mocha, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, fine, fine tannin (which is a hallmark of this vintage), terrific purity of fruit, and a great finish. It’s already approachable yet should be at its best from 2020-2035. Tasted once.” (11/2017)

“The 2015 Le Bon Pasteur is a powerful, resonant wine. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and mocha speak with a strong voice in this rich, textured Pomerol. There is not a whole lot of subtlety here. Even so, all the elements are nicely fused together. This flamboyant Pomerol should drink well for the next 10-15 years, perhaps more. (AG)” (02/2018)
