Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Jordan Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (92DC). Decanter: "A long, mild growing season marked the first vintage with grapes from the winery’s hillside vineyards. Even at 20 years of age, the wine is still vibrant, rich and long, with tobacco and herb scents and savoury red fruit flavours that give the wine substantial oomph. It’s an example of how well Jordan’s balanced style can age. (EM)" (09/2019)

A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot, Jordan felt the Merlot in 1999 was extraordinary. With such a high percentage of Merlot one would think the wine would be soft and open. In fact the 1999 is firmer and shows more structure than in years past. This is typical of the vintage. I think the key to Jordan's success in 1999 was the Merlot. It adds that extra dimension of fruit and fleshiness to the mid palate and helps balance the tannin from the Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine should age well. (Trey Beffa, K&L Wine Merchants)

“An herbal style, with ripe, smooth currant, herb, green olive and sage notes. Finishes with complexity and a firm backbone of tannins. (JL)” (11/2003)
