“The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Châtelots has an open, articulate nose that really expresses its terroir -- such fine mineralité here. The palate is strict and linear with dark berry/blackcurrant fruit, plenty of freshness and with a steely, precise finish that perhaps just needs a little more persistence. “The 2014 Chatelots was really showing lovely sappiness on both the nose and palate at the time of my visit, wafting from the glass in a blend of red and black cherries, a touch of gamebird, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, a fine base of soil and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely transparent, with a sappy core of fruit, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised and beautifully balanced finish. This too will drink really well from a young age, but has the balance to also age very gracefully. Fine, fine juice.” (11/2015)
