Of the 2019 Occidental "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodegas Headland Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Wine Advocate writes: "The 2019 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Vineyard Cuvée Elizabeth is a glorious, magical wine that I can’t get enough of. Pale ruby-purple, it offers incredibly pure, kaleidoscopic aromas: blueberry, pomegranate and cranberry are layered with accents of nori, iron, bergamot and soaring floral perfume. The light-bodied palate is pure, bright and seamless, offering incredible concentration without weight. Antonio Galloni writes for Vinous: "Two thousand-nineteen was only the second year Steve Kistler was able to focus entirely on Occidental following his gradual retirement from Kistler Vineyards. Some of the developments here in recent years include a greater focus on whole berry fermentations and longer vinifications in general. The 2019 saw 22-23 days on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation, both with ambient yeasts. The wines were aged in French oak (30% new) with no racking until July/August 2020, when they were racked to tank prior to bottling in November/December 2021." (01/2022)

“The purity of the 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Station Vineyard evokes the resonating tone of a tuning fork and offers the same satisfaction every time I open a bottle. On the nose, a well of dark red fruit is complemented by pure, detailed accents of licorice, lavender, bergamot, tea leaves and iron. The light-bodied palate is tremendously concentrated for its slender frame—vertical acidity and powdery tannins are knit into luxurious waves of spicy, floral fruit. It finishes with an impressive flourish of iron and spice and will be very long lived in the cellar. (EB)” (01/2025)

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Station is the most overt of these wines. Explosive red berry fruit, blood orange, mint, sage and rose petal soar out of the glass. Soft and pliant for a young Occidental Pinot, the Occidental Station will drink well with just a few years in bottle. There is plenty of energy and vibrancy, but the Occidental Station is a bit showier than the other wines in the range. Silky contours lend raciness and yet there is plenty of mineral brightness lurking beneath. The 2019 is a real charmer, that much is clear. (AG)” (01/2022)

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands is bright and energetic with aromas of red fruit, cedar, layered spice, and orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied and has a silky texture, with fine tannins and an incredibly long finish revealing saline minerality. (AF)” (08/2022)

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth is bright, fresh, floral and effusive from the very first taste. Crushed rose petal, lavender and red/purplish berry fruit all grace this elegant, supremely beautiful Pinot. There is a feeling of transparency to the Cuvée Elizabeth that is beguiling. Readers will have a very hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine. (AG)” (01/2022)
