Cradled in a secluded natural amphitheater amid the Mayacamas Mountains, this winery is in a remote corner of California's Sonoma Valley. The original Carmenet winery was literally dynamited into the rocks of the Mayacamas mountains, above Sonoma Valley, and was a much-watched brand in the 1980s and 1990s. Later known as Moon Mountain, the site is now Repris, while the brand name has long passed out of the hands of the former Chalone Wine Group. Sonoma wine history in a bottle!

“Deep ruby-red. Black raspberry, dark chocolate and a whiff of fresh herbs on the nose. Rich and ripe on the palate, with black raspberry and graphite flavors; a bit diffuse but held together by somewhat intrusive acidity. Finishes with slightly drying tannins and notes of leather and smoke. (ST)” (05/2000)

Wine Spectator
“Intense, with rangy, sprawling black cherry, plum and wild berry fruit that's in definite need of short-term cellaring to come together. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.” (04/2000)
