2020 Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vougeot 1er Cru "Les Petits Vougeot"

“This is one of the few domaines located in the village of Vougeot, so it is fitting that they own a half-hectare of this little-known premier cru, located between the Clos de Vougeot and Chambolle Amoureuses. The wine seems to partake of the character of both of these: there is the perfume, silky freshness and utter approachability of Amoureuses, but there is also the depth and haunting persistence that one can find with the best wines from the Clos. “The 2020 Vougeots Les Petits Vougeot 1er Cru has a feisty, forward, lively bouquet that retains delineation and focus. It has a fine lift and is perhaps a little exotic in style without losing too much typicité. This has more flesh and rondeur than the previous wine, maybe a slightly higher pH, but well-balanced with peppery red fruit and quite a bravura finish that does carry a bit of warmth.
