Wine Enthusiast

A full-bodied, complex and supple-textured wine, this offers plump, ripe black-cherry aromas shaded by hints of forest floor and sautéed mushrooms, along with mild plum and cherry flavors. While soft and soothing on the palate, a fine layer of tannins wraps it up and keeps it appetizing. (JG) (03/2016)

Vinous

The 2013 Pinot Noir Toulouse Vineyard is quite a bit fresher and more nuanced than the 2012 tasted alongside. Bright red cherry, blood orange, game, pomegranate, mint and cinnamon are pushed forward in a pliant, attractive Pinot that should drink nicely for a number of years. (AG) (02/2016)

N/A

Burghound

A ripe if still fresh nose is composed primarily of higher-toned red berry fruit scents that exhibit discreet if pretty spice nuances. There is a caressing mouth feel to the very generously proportioned medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a dusty and lingering if slightly edgy and warm finish. (04/2016)

Wine Advocate

The real emphasis at MacPhail from owner and winemaker James MacPhail are their Pinot Noirs. The 2013 versions start with the 2013 Pinot Noir Toulouse Vineyard, which has plenty of pomegranate, red cherry, apple skin, baking spices, earth and a medium-bodied, clean, authentic Pinot Noir character. (RP) (12/2015)

N/A

Wine Spectator

Weaving together a complex mix of currant, raspberry and blackberry notes, this is tightly structured, dense and focused, easing up a bit on the finish, which shows a crushed-rock personality. (JL) (03/2016)
