Of the 2003 Querciabella "Camartina" Toscana, Decanter writes: "Lifted spice and a head-spinning top note are joined by aromas of dark fruits, cassis and a touch of bright cherry mixed with woodland undergrowth. I love the ebullient personality of this wine - there's a crunchy, sappy green note to the juicy fruit which adds a counterpoint to the lush, velvety texture and creates a lovely, bright energy. It all comes together with an expressive exuberance. A wide-awake wine! Drinking Window 2018-2025. (SH)" (02/2018)

Vinous

The 2005 Camartina is absolutely gorgeous. Scents of graphite, menthol, smoke, tar and savory herbs are some of the many notes that open up in the glass. Medium in body and still quite fresh, the 2005 is just approaching the early part of its prime drinking window. The tannins remain a bit firm, but the wine's balance is absolutely impeccable. Hints of rose petal and white pepper add lift on the bright, salivating finish. This is a terrific showing. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. (AG) (12/2015)

Wine Enthusiast

Sweet, warm tones of mature cherry and blueberry preserves make for a thick and concentrated wine that leaves a long trail of luscious fruit on the palate. The wood tones are overt and bring notes of vanilla, toasted almond and leather to the wine. Ready to drink now. (04/2008)

Wine Spectator

Attractive coffee, blackberry and tobacco character on the nose. Full-bodied, with loads of velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Beauty. Very well-crafted, especially for the vintage. (JS) (10/2005)

Podere Morazzano is a small family estate in the hills of Montescudaio, an historic wine-growing area near the Tyrrhenian coast where maritime influences temper the warm Tuscan climate. The estate’s vineyards sit at roughly 250 metres above sea level on limestone-clay and marl-rich soils, with cooling sea breezes and significant diurnal shifts helping to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity in the grapes. These conditions give the wines of Montescudaio their distinctive balance of Mediterranean ripeness, savory character, and structure, qualities that Morazzano seeks to express through low-yield vineyard farming and a strong focus on terroir.
