2007 Foursquare 13 Year Old "Golden Devil" Single Barrel Barbados Rum (750ml)

The Foursquare distillery has become one of the most sought-after and talked-about producers of rum anywhere in the world. Since the distillery opened in 1996, they've steadily made a name for themselves selling unadulterated rums at high proof under the "Exceptional Cask" range. We've been lucky enough to find a few single casks, which the distillery does not typically sell, through our various bottlers, but it's been some time since our partners in Scotland have offered us any. In fact, we were able to sell another at the start of the Foursquare craze, and we haven't had any luck finding another in some time. For the last several years, Foursquare has been completely unavailable to us. So, we were surprised when our friends at Golden Devil offered us another barrel two years older and only a smidge more expensive. This awesome barrel offers all the gorgeous complexity of the single blended style with heightened intensity. The profile has a great balance between the savory and sweet characters. Not as pungent or intense as the Jamaican pot stills, but still with some tropical character and plenty of baking spice to balance out the sweet, toasted vanilla and candied fruit. A great reminder of why Foursquare is so special and why we always buy it when we can find a single cask at cask strength.
