1988 Spring Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1988 Spring Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93DC). Decanter: "Thirty-four years after the harvest, this 1988 Cabernet is remarkably fresh, youthfully exuberant, and vibrant, with terrific depth and aromatic intensity for its age. It leads with a potpourri of dried herbs, pyrazines, black olive, and rich earth, resolving into black currants and picking up steam on the palate. Medium to full-bodied, with building, firm, and structured tannins. It keeps giving, mingling deep-turned earth with blood orange acidity and muddled blackberry and blueberry fruit. Totally mesmerising. (JC)" (09/2022)

One of California’s premier, mountain-grown Cabernets. Originally four individual historic Napa Valley properties, Miravalle, La Perla, Alba, and Chevalier were combined to create this 850-acre estate of forest and vineyards on the eastern slopes of Spring Mountain overlooking the town of St. Helena. Over 225 acres of the estate are planted to vine, creating 135 separate hillside vineyard blocks. Each of these blocks has unique soils, exposures, and mesoclimates that provide Spring Mountain with some of the most interesting, complex fruit this side of the Atlantic. Well known for its longevity and finesse after multiple decades in the bottle, too.
