“The 2010 Syrah The Unnamed has the most texture and fruit of the lineup. A big, full-bodied effort that never seems heavy or cumbersome, it offers up layers of Syrah-driven fruit, pepper, underbrush, iron and game to go with voluptuous, yet elegantly styled mouthfeel, no hard edges and thrilling purity. Already reasonably approachable due to its wealth of fruit, it nevertheless has the back-end structure and concentration to evolve for 12-15 years or more. (JD)” (06/2013)

“The Unnamed, Reynvaan’s tête de cuvée from its In the Rocks Vineyard, seems to have benefited from the relative coolness of 2010, gaining an elegant structure and electrifying drive. The aromas bring to mind all the classic Rocks elements—mocha, tomato compote, spice, pepper, smoke and plum—but they are laid out in a stream as opposed to a puddle, moving across the palate with focus and energy, finishing with a dark burst of plum fruit that’s exhilarating and long.” (10/2013)

“Dark red. Subdued aromas of redcurrant, pepper and herbs; less explosive today than the In the Rocks release. Silky, suave and rich in extract but less open and sweet today than the In the Rocks, showing less of that wine's spiciness. Finishes with red berry and pepper notes and impressive length. This bottling clearly needs time, as a retaste of the 2009 bottling suggests. The 2009 may ultimately possess less energy than the 2010 but it's more aromatically complex today, showing liqueur-like strawberry and raspberry fruit complicated by pepper and gamey nuances and lifted by sexy notes of spearmint oil and garrigue. “Good deep red. Initially subdued nose opened with air to show varietally accurate scents of raspberry, woodsmoke, game and brown spices. Sweet, plush and impressively deep, with an impression of baby fat leavened by firm acidity and a saline underpinning. The red fruit and game flavors carry well on the rising, very long finish, which features building, seamless tannins. (ST) 93+” (11/2013)
