Bid on this 1-half-bottle lot of Stolen Rum Overproof 6 Year Old Pot Still Jamaican Rum (375ml). This limited edition gem is redefining the Stolen brand as well as Jamaican rum in general. We see very little well aged pure pot still Jamaican rum and when we do it tends to be rather expensive. Stolen Rum sourced these 5000 bottles from the exceptional Hampden Estate and it represents the essence of Jamaican Rum's potential. Hampden is renowned for its traditional fermentation and distillation practices. The process isn't totally dissimilar to Kentucky's souring process, in that it's a carefully controlled biological reactor designed to adjust the pH of the fermenting molasses as well as produce certain chemicals known to react with ethyl alcohol to produce pleasant flavors. These open pits of organic material are carefully monitored and certain ingredients added to ensure the health and vigor of the biomass. It smells like a rotten carcass, but the results are unparalleled.

Very little has changed there in the many centuries that they've been cultivating, processing, and distilling sugar cane. One interesting component of traditional Jamaican rum production is the use of muckpits. That's thanks to these wonderful chemical compounds called esters, responsible for many of the complex flavors we love in spirits. After 6 years of barrel aging, this gorgeous rum displays incredible aromatic depth and a rich palate filled with endless complexity. Delicious straight, but makes the meanest Mai Tai you'll ever meet.
